Does your Outer Banks Long Term Rental have Curb Appeal?
Most Landlords try their best to keep their OBX rental homes looking neat and well kept. Unfortunately, this is not always the case with Outer Banks Long Term rental properties. Tenants don’t always have the required equipment or expertise to do some of the many things that are required to keep the exterior of your OBX rental home neat and tidy such as:
- Tree and shrub trimming and cutting back. This is an important service because certain local plants such as Russian Olives need to be maintained annually or they get totally out of control. Other local trees like crepe myrtles and live Oaks need cut back so as to not scratch your siding or roof. This type of service often requires a tree service and landscaper.
- Pampas grass should be cut every February or March but certainly before it starts to grow back each year to keep it under control.
- Vines and weeds should be cut back from your heat pump and away from your lattice work.
- Pressure washing of siding, decks, steps, and handrails. The Outer Banks sees a lot of rain in the spring and certainly not enough sun to keep the mold from growing on the outside of our homes. Pressure washing should be done annually to keep your home looking good and also as a safety precaution so that the decks and steps do not become slippery.
- Painting of wood if you don’t have vinyl wrapped siding or window trim. Many of us have painted wood that begins to peel and look old and shabby. This is going to need to be scrapped and painted every few years.
Keeping your home looking neat and clean will not only add to the value but can add to the value for a new Renter and/or for a Buyer looking for an OBX home in the future.
